Love and lust are two different things. You shouldn't want someone back just because you miss having a sexual relationship with them. Love is also not greedy. You shouldn't want someone back because they make you look or feel better; that is selfish. You should want the person back because you complete each other, and feel like you have a real connection. If they are truly better of without you then you'll want to rethink your "need" to get back with them. Two people are not always meant for each other, that is a common misconception.
If you feel as though you understand the true meaning of love, and are the best match for one another, then you should want your significant other to feel the same way you do. A relationship based on true love has a great chance of working, but if true love isn't the case, seek a new mate.
You have to be willing to do everything it takes! This includes the willingness to drop your old habits and learn new, better ones. Grab some new priorities and get your goals on the right track, because it can take a lot of time and energy to win them back.
